Fortnite, the online video game, is working with the best singer The Week in its opening “Fortnite Festival” on Saturday.
The event in the game will work as a virtual one music festival featuring various artists including Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and Kendrick Lamar.
The festival for the online multiplayer game comes a little more than a week after the rapper Eminem’s virtual concert for the game Big Bang introduces the new chapter 5: Season 1.
Created by Epic Games and published in 2017, Fornite is a free, cross-platform online multiplayer game that is regularly updated with advanced seasons.
Fortnite’s main features include cosmetic items such as weapon wraps, “skins” – or, special characters – and “emotes” that allow players to perform actions to the music in the game to like the famous TikTok dance (the “griddy” after the murder of a happy person. happy). Each season of the game, usually lasting 90 days, may offer new maps, game modes or cosmetics.
The historic game invites partnerships with artists, television shows, movies and other video games to launch new media.
Saturday’s festival will feature a new music feature on Fortnite, allowing players to play an instrument of their choice with a purchasable “jam track.” Popular “jam tracks” from The Weeknd — like his hit singles “The Hills” and “Save Your Tears” — will be available for purchase at the toy store. Fortnite is also giving away a bunch of The Weeknd skins, pickaxes and emotes starting on Saturday to honor their main character.
The Weeknd himself is releasing special merchandise together such as shirts, hats and a picture of the singer’s Fortnite.
Players can tune in Saturday for a chance to play guitar or sing like The Weeknd himself.
This week is coming from a special year. In March, he was announced as the most popular music on the planet according to Guinness World Records, and it comes from his record “After Hours Until Dawn” sports tour around the world.
Past Fortnite collaborations have included a Bad Bunny “emote” during Coachella, Disney+’s “Ahsoka” quest and several “Spidey skins” during the “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” gameplay.
While Fortnite is best known for its third-person shooter, Epic Games is expanding its lineup with LEGO Fortnite and Rocket Racing.
