The IDF brought back the bodies of Eden Zachariah and IDF Warrant Officer Ziv Dado, two Israelis taken prisoner by Hamas on October 7, the IDF said on Tuesday.
The bodies were brought back by soldiers from Unit 504 of the Intelligence Directorate and the 551st Brigade operating in Gaza.
The bodies underwent an autopsy to be confirmed by doctors and military experts, along with the Institute of Forensic Medicine and the Israel Police.
The families of Zakaria and Dado have been notified.
Zakaria was abducted from the party in Re’im and Dado was abducted while working as a logistics foreman in the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade.
Two soldiers fell trying to retrieve the bodies of the detainees
Master-Sgt. (res.) Gal Meir Eisenkot and Master-Sgt. (res.) Eyal Meir Berkovich fell during the recovery operation.
“The mission of the country before our eyes is to find the missing people and return all the people who were detained home. We are working together with the security agencies, with all intelligence and the use of means to bring all the detainees home,” the IDF said.
“We join together in the great sadness of the family of Zakaria,” said the Hostage and Missing Families Forum. “Etna Zakaria was full of joy in life and loved to spend time at parties. He went to a party in Re’im with his partner Ofek Kimchi who was killed at the party.”
