The Finals devs respond to accusations of slow games: “There is no change”

The conclusion of the review on Steam fell short of “mixed” with many players saying that the whole game is slower than the beta. The strange thing is, the devs have said that the mechanics are still working.

The Finals is the latest FPS trendsetter to take the internet by storm. After a beta burst that defeated giants like CoD and CS: GO in the number of players, the entire picture of the game fell in the 2023 Games.

The full release of Finals has enjoyed equal success in beta. The newly created game recently surpassed Modern Warfare 3 on the Steam charts with over 200,000 concurrent players.

Despite the championship’s early success, the Finals’ Steam analysis it recently dropped to mixed reviews with over 8,000 negative reviews. Many of them said that the game is slower than the beta. The developers responded on Discord with some confusion.

Checking out Steam’s reviews for the Finals, it’s full of information on slow games. Most of the negative symptoms are attached to the “Reverse panic attack”.

The problem is, says Embark Studios that nothing has been done to the speed of people’s actions since the beta. They have identified some of the problem areas and responded with some improvements on Discord, however.

“We have studied your feedback on the feeling of the movement from the Open Beta until now. It was difficult to confirm because there was no change in the movement style or the movement speed between the two tests ,” wrote Embark village leader Dusty Gustafsson.

“Over the past month, we’ve made a few minor adjustments to animations, sounds, and settings that, in combination, may give the impression of slow motion,” they explained. The main setting looks like a change in default FOV from 100 to 71.

Hopefully adjusting these settings can bring some of the speed players need back to the Finals.

Gustafsson said that Embark will try to rebalance some of the animation changes but it is a change in terms that should reduce the feeling of delay. “For your part, changing your FOV can be very helpful,” they suggest.
