A ransomware group called Rhysida claimed to have hacked Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 developer Insomniac Games, and posted files it could find as evidence. Sony told Eurogamer that the situation is being investigated.
Earlier today, Cyber Daily reported Rhysida posted proof-of-hack. It includes details of Insomniac’s Wolverine game, which is rumored to be out in 2025, as well as internal emails, files, and personal documents of Insomniac employees. One of the documents reported to belong to Peter Parker is the voice of Yuri Lowenthal.
Rhysida has given Insomniac seven days before publishing everything he stole, Cyber Daily reports, but the group also has information for the auction, with a starting price of 50 bitcoins ( only $2m).
In a statement given to Eurogamer, Sony said: “We are aware of reports that Insomniac Games has been the victim of a cyber attack. It has been affected.”
Rhysida is the group behind the latest hack of the British Library.
This is the latest in a series of cyber attacks on Sony and its studios. In September, a ransomware group claimed to have attacked Sony and sold the stolen data, before another person emerged as the hacker. In October, reports of an online attack on Sony Interactive Entertainment in June were revealed, which saw the personal information of nearly 7000 current and former employees exposed.
