The circumstances and dates of detention are not clear, but some of the detainees were confirmed by their partners or family members.
At least some of the men are civilians with no known ties to violent groups, according to a CNN interview with one of their relatives and a statement from one of their employers, a network horizon.
Of the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor posted a photo of one of the detainees and said in a statement on his website Thursday that “many Palestinians were arrested and tortured by the Israeli army.”
“Euro-Med Monitor has received reports that Israeli forces have carried out random arrests and harassment against migrants, including doctors, academics, journalists, and the elderly,” it said.
The Israel Defense Forces did not respond to CNN’s request for comment on the photos. CNN has obtained some photos in Beit Lahia, north of Gaza City.
The Israeli media, without identifying a source, has shown pictures of the release of members of Hamas. A reporter asked IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari about the photos during a press conference on Thursday, saying, “We have seen photos of many prisoners, of Hamas terrorists, arrested by the IDF during ground operations.”
Hagari said, in fighting Hamas, “those who remained in the area will gradually come.”
“We investigate and check who has ties to Hamas, and who doesn’t,” he said. “We will arrest all of them and question them. We will continue to demolish each of those towers until it is finished.”

The men can be seen in the cargo bed of a military vehicle.
In a statement Thursday, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed said that one of its reporters and some members of his family were among those detained as part of the incident shown in the photos. .
“Today, Thursday, the Israeli army arrested the reporter and editor of the office of ‘The New Arab’ in Gaza, our colleague Diaa Al-Kahlot, from Market Street in Beit Lahia, along with a group of his brothers, relatives, and other public people,” wrote Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.
“The operation deliberately forced the Gazans to remove their clothes, searched them, and humiliated them when they were arrested before they were taken to an unknown location, according to people there to us. Pictures and videos are circulating that show the soldiers arresting many Gazans using criminal and humiliating methods.
Hussam Kanafani, the editor-in-chief of Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, said in a statement that Al-Kahlot and his family are still missing.
“We will make every possible effort, in collaboration with international organizations and organizations concerned with the rights and freedom of journalists in the world, to find out where our partner Diaa is and release him as soon as possible,” Kanafani said.
CNN spoke with one of the relatives of the other detained men, Hani al-Madhoun, from his home in the United States.
“The Israeli army arrived on the street and called all the men to come out, and they obeyed,” al-Madhoun told CNN. “This house was their refuge after our two houses were destroyed.”
Al-Madhoun said he was in contact with his sister, who is in Gaza.
He said he recognized his cousin Aboud in one of the photos and saw his brother Mahmood in a video. He said Mahmoud is a merchant and Aboud “is not involved in any activity; he helps his father in building.”
