Giving time to reflect on his threat to the officials on Sunday and his post-game interaction with the Buffalo team Bills Josh Allen, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said he regrets his actions.

Mahomes took heat on Sunday after a call on Chiefs receiver Kadarius Toney denied what would have been a go-ahead touchdown with less than two minutes remaining. Toney took a touchdown pass from Travis Kelce, who had caught a pass from Mahomes, and completed what would have been a 49-yard touchdown. After the penalty, Mahomes went on to throw three straight incompletions and the Bills ran out of time and won 20-17.

Mahomes yelled at the officials about the call as the Bills ran out the clock after taking the ball back.

“Obviously you don’t want to answer that, I mean, I care, man. I love it – I love this game, and I love my team. I want to go out and put everything on the line to win. , but obviously you can’t do that, you can’t do that to officials or anyone in life,” the Mahomes said Monday. an interview with 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City.

He added that “more than anything, I regretted the way I treated Josh (Allen) after the game, because he had nothing to do with it.”

A WROC-TV camera Mahomes was caught saying to Allen: “Worst call I’ve ever seen. That’s bad on that play, man. F—terrible.”

Mahomes said Monday, “I was hot and emotional, but you can’t do that. It’s not a good example for kids watching the game. I was more upset about that than I’m on the line.”

On Sunday, Mahomes said he asked three different officials about the call and never got an answer and said after the game, “Next game, we’re talking about to the refs. That’s not what we want for the NFL.”

On Monday, however, Mahomes acknowledged that the call was correct.

“Obviously I’ve seen it now, and if he didn’t check it and it wasn’t good, it’s a bad thing, it’s something you rarely see in the NFL. game, man. You learn from it, it’s part of being human, you learn from your mistakes and try to do better next time,” he said.

This past Monday, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Toney did not check the linebacker to make sure his line was correct. When asked what coaching advice he had for Toney this week, Reid replied, “Just check, check with the guy on the wrong side.” see if you fit… you’re 2 inches away from or 1 inch away from the law.”

Mahomes could face fines from the NFL for his actions and comments and said Monday that he will accept any punishment that comes his way.

“You have to accept the consequences of your actions, and that’s something I’ve always stood for. Obviously I didn’t act the way I’m used to, and if there are consequences that come from that I would certainly accept that,” he said.
