The way YSR Congress party leaders gave a grand welcome to Telangana information and communications minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy when he came to Vijayawada on Monday surprised many people.
Ponguleti, who won from Palair constituency in Khammam district in the recent election, came to Vijayawada on Monday to worship Goddess Kanaka Durga at Indrakeeladri Hills and fulfill her vow.
He was welcomed by YSRCP Lok Sabha member P Mithun Reddy and his colleagues.
Mithun Reddy took care of the Telangana minister and made sure he had a special darshan and offered prayers to the Goddess.
Ponguleti told reporters that he prayed to Goddess Kanaka Durga to shower blessings on the new Telangana government.
“I came to the temple many times but this is the first time I came here as a pastor,” he said.
The way the YSRC leaders gave a warm welcome to the Telangana Congress minister was surprising, as the YSRC media had made public statements that he was funded by the Telugu Desam. Congress party and contest for the party in Telangana.
YSRC workers also announced that the TDP has pulled out of the contest in Telangana only to help field chief minister A Revanth Reddy, who is a fourth close confidant of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.
When the Congress came to power in Telangana, the YSRC of the general business community was because of the indirect help from the TDP. Even YSRCP workers believe this story.
So, what message is the YSRC sending to the leadership now, when according to its leaders a welcome to the Congress minister from Telangana?
Ponguleti gave a clarification on this matter. He said that he is very close to YSRC president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
“I have a personal relationship with Jagan and it has nothing to do with politics. Apart from Jagan, I have close personal and business relations with some YSRCP leaders,” he said.
It may be mentioned that Ponguleti was first elected from Khammam district on YSRCP ticket but later went to BRS. However, he and Jagan used to meet for business purposes.
Even when he joined the Congress recently, Ponguleti met Jagan and sought his help.
