Spider-Man developer Insomniac Games has reportedly been hit by a cyberattack that threatens to reveal sensitive information about the company, its employees and its upcoming games.
As reported by Cyber Dailyransomware group Rhysida has published data on the internet which seems to confirm its claim that it has successfully hacked the house owned by Sony.
The gang’s confirmed information is said to include a screenshot from Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game, along with artwork that could show other Marvel characters appearing in the PS5 title.

Sony Interactive Entertainment said in a statement provided to VGC that it is looking into reports that Insomniac has been hacked.
“We are aware of reports that Insomniac Games has been the victim of a cyber attack,” the company said. “We are currently investigating this situation. We have no reason to believe that any other SIE or Sony group has been affected.
It appears to include searches of employee passports, a personal document related to Spider-Man voice actor Yuri Lowenthal, internal emails and confidential documents.
Rhysida’s gang threatens to release the stolen data in seven days while also hosting an auction for her with a starting price. of 50 Bitcoins (about $2 million).
“With only 7 days on the clock, take advantage of the opportunity to purchase exclusive, unique, and spectacular information,” it said.
“Open your wallets and get ready to buy specials. We sell only one hand, no resale, you will own it!”
VGC has contacted Sony for comment on this report.
In September, Sony said it had begun an investigation after a ransomware group claimed they had breached the Japanese company’s system and threatened to sell a database of stolen data.
The game of Insomniac’s Wolverine was announced in September 2021, as recently released Spider-Man 2, at which time it was said that the first one was in “small development”.
Although created in the same universe as the studio’s Spider-Man games, Wolverine is considered an independent title directed by Brian Horton and Cameron Christian, who led the creation on Miles Morales.
It was previously stated that Sony is targeting a fall 2024 or a 2025 release window for the game.
