Eric Schwerin – one of Hunter Biden’s close business partners – will testify before the House Oversight Committee in a closed hearing in January, the committee confirmed to the Post.

The letter was issued after several months of negotiations between Schwerin, who lives in a three-bedroom house at the top of Glover Park in Washington DC, and the committee.

The closed nature of the trial suggests that it will follow a similar process with Devon Archer, another business partner of Hunter Biden who spoke to the committee in July.

News of the bombshell delivery comes just weeks after Hunter Biden was hit with a new felony and misdemeanor charge for allegedly paying $1.4 million in taxes while living the life of an “excessive” neo-baby.

The first son could get up to 17 years in prison.

Experts say Schwerin’s testimony could be compromised because of his close ties to the Biden family’s finances.

“He is the link between Hunter’s business and Joe’s money bottles. He established shell companies. He was the one who did the cash transfer. He knows how much money went into it,” said Jim Hanson, an information security consultant who examined Hunter Biden’s computer. “If there was a smoking gun, he buried it.”

It’s unclear exactly what Schwerin said, but it’s almost certain that members will seek answers to this week’s revelations from the House Ways and Means Committee that Joe Biden used anonymous email addresses to communicated secretly with family members – and Schwerin – between 2011 and 2019. .

The elder Biden sent or participated in 327 emails with Schwerin.

Of those, 54 were just between Joe Biden and Schwerin.

The committee accused Schwerin of being the architect of “various shell companies that launder money around the world.”

Hunter Biden and Schwerin apparently first met more than 20 years ago when they worked in President Bill Clinton’s Commerce Department.

When George W. Bush became president, Hunter Biden went into the private sector and started a lobbying firm with William Oldaker, a DC attorney who worked on his father’s 1988 presidential campaign.

Schwerin became a partner in the firm in 2002, show the popular notification form.

In June 2009 – shortly after the elder Biden became vice president – Hunter Biden founded his investment firm Rosemont Seneca Partners with Devon Archer, a former Abercrombie & Fitch model, and Chris Heinz, a heir to ketchup and a son of John Kerry.

Schwerin was signed on as president, and the fund aggressively pursued deals in Russia, Romania, Ukraine, China, and elsewhere.

The committee is focusing heavily on China, especially in the 2017 deal between Hudson West III – the LLC Hunter Biden managed and invested in – and CEFC, the Chinese powerhouse it is looking to buy send US natural gas to China.

President Biden, who had just finished his term as vice president under President Obama at the time, was involved in the deal, Comer told the Post last year.

Unlike Archer and Heinz, Schwerin was deeply embedded in Vice President Biden’s inner circle, records show.

On November 17, 2010, Schwerin met with Biden in the West Wing — one of several documented visits to the White House during the Obama/Biden years, according to public records. visiting

Emails from Hunter Biden’s computer also show he had access to Vice President Biden’s finances at the time. Schwerin handled Joe Biden’s “Delaware tax return audit” and the two spoke on the phone.

“My dad just called me (about his mortgage) and said he’s leaving early and won’t be back until Labor Day… He could use some good news. about its ability to provide for the future,” Schwerin wrote in a July 2010 email to Hunter Biden.

Schwerin first met with the Supervisory Board in March to discuss document submission. Committee Democrats said at the time that Schwerin said he “did not know of any influence by President Biden in the financial management of the President’s family businesses.”

However, Republicans disputed that attitude. His January appearance will be his first recorded interview.

Schwerin and his attorney did not respond to requests for comment from the Post.
