Hideo Kojima seems to be using a reference to Konami’s Silent Hill series in his trailer for OD.
The Xbox exclusive, which was previously called Overdose, was officially announced during the Game Show last week, with a trailer showing the close-up of the players.
However, as seen by Xbox Centraland approved by the VGC user the trailer on the official YouTube channel Kojima Productions, the group consisting of the German Udo Kier seems to have a hidden message inside.
As Kier talks to the camera, faint letters appear in his mouth at five different times, which can be easily seen by adjusting the height of the video (as we did in the title image of this article). , where you can see the letter A).
In the series, the letters spell ‘Atami’, a Japanese city located in Shizuoka Prefecture. The kanji spelling of Shizuoka is 静岡, and when separated into individual kanji, 静 means ‘quiet’, ‘quiet’ or ‘calm’ and 岡 means ‘hill’. eh.
It seems that Kojima is making a reference to Silent Hill in the trailer, but it is not clear why.
In 2012, Kojima began working with filmmaker Guillermo del Toro on a new game in the Silent Hill series, titled Silent Hills, which was introduced through the famous ‘PT’ demo.
The teaser ended with a hint of a Silent Hill game starring Norman Reedus, but Kojima and Konami soon parted ways and canceled the project, with Reedus teaming up with Kojima for Death Stranding instead. .
Assuming that the letters are indeed a reference to Silent Hill, that is, it is not clear whether they are teasing that OD may be a Silent Hill name, or – as it is more given in nature terrible split between Kojima and Konami – this is it. only Kojima referenced the epic game he didn’t make, during a trailer for one he’s making in his own terms.
It was also revealed during the Game Show that Kojima is working on OD with Nope and Us director Jordan Peele, along with several other undisclosed collaborations.
