Days after the scandal former Rep. George Santos (R-NY) was ousted from Congress by a large group of lawmakers after a scathing ethics report and revelations that he fabricated much of his information, the media fraudster is looking to make a comeback at the People’s House.
After leaving the room on December 1, he told reporters: “Why do I want to stay here? To hell with this place.”
That sentiment seems to be changing. On Tuesday, Santos told Frank Morano in a radio interview, “I’m not done with public service. I want to go back to Congress.”
“I’m not saying today. I’m not saying tomorrow,” said Santos. “I have a lot of things to do first. I think we all know that, but I have the intention of trying to regain the trust of the American people and go for it because I will continue to expose and eradicate the corruption in our great government.
He still has some things to do now, like federal criminal charges of fraud, identity theft, conspiracy, and illegal political contributions.
However, as a possible deal approaches, Santos has nothing but praise for the Department of Justice investigators who accused him of the crime.
“The DOJ was above board, beyond reproach, and professional in this whole matter,” Santos said on the The Other Side of Midnight radio show. “The disciplinary committee is a political killer, a joke of a process.”
“I’m not saying it for people to like me,” he continued. “I’m not asking people to love me. I just want people to know the facts, and those are the facts.
Santos pleaded not guilty earlier this year to the charges contained in the 23-count indictment.
