Geno Smith Inactive for Seahawks’ Week 14 Game vs. 49ers, Kenneth Walker III & Jordyn Brooks Active

SANTA CLARA, Calif.—The Seahawks will be without their starting quarterback for Sunday’s game against the NFC West-leading 49ers.

Geno Smith, who injured his groin in Thursday’s game and was listed as questionable on the injury report, had the injury tested on a hit. pregame, and has been inactive for Sunday’s game at Levi’s Stadium.

Smith’s departure means Drew Lock will make his first start since joining the Seahawks in last year’s trade that sent Russell Wilson to Denver.

“He’s been waiting for this opportunity, he’s been waiting for it and preparing for it,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said of Lock on Friday. “If this situation comes, it means that he is ready as much as he can”.

Sean Mannion, who was signed to the practice squad on Friday, will be right back for the Locks.

On a positive injury note, four players were listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, including starting linebacker Jordyn Brooks (foot ), and running back Kenneth Walker III, who missed the last two games with an injury. He is also healthy after being ruled out for running back Zach Charbonnet (knee) and nose tackle Jarran Reed (hamstring). Cornerback Tre Brown (ankle) and receiver Dee Eskridge (ribs) are inactive after being listed as questionable Friday.
