Final Fantasy 16’s DLC Expansions Get Trailer, First Release Now

Final Thoughts XVI may not have received a Game of the Year nomination (much to the dismay of some Kotaku the readers) at the 2023 Game of Thrones Awards, but received a nod for Best Gameplay, Commentary, Music, and Performance. While he won’t be going home with the trophy in hand, he did walk away with two new DLC additions. The first is called Echoes of FallIt’s been dubbed “the Magitec War,” and it’s on PlayStation 5 tonight.

Echoes of Fall the first is two DLC planned for Final Thoughts XVI. The second, The Tide Finder, coming in spring 2024 and featuring Leviathan, the long-lost summon missing from the game’s main campaign. Both DLCs appear to take place before the end of the game, including new companions, monsters to fight and areas to explore. In fact, both extensions look and sound amazing.

Final Thoughts XVI tells the story of Clive Rosfield, a nobleman turned slave who eventually joins a rebellion led by the charismatic Cid to liberate the world’s “Responsible” class—the has spiritual power—from slavery. However, the story left a few mysteries unexplained. For example, there are a few references to the sea serpent Leviathan—a common call in the past. Final Score game—but the animal remains invisible, leading some to hope it may appear in future DLC. Their patience has been rewarded.

Final Thoughts XVI was divisive in the promotion. Others, however, took issue with his shift away from gradualist warfare toward mass do it rationally on the series, and received criticism for a few people eyes and others strange in his story.
