Another person commented: “The flight attendants are not babysitters, they are there for the safety of the passengers.”
Others defended Rutherford and said his son deserved to be interested in aviation.
“It’s very nice. Maybe it’s better to feed him than to let him do something bad to feed himself he knows. Let him have his time,” he said. of one user.

Rutherford told BI that the plane girl offered to feed his son and he did not order her to do so.
“The flight attendant asked if she could help him and showed a lot of kindness, holding his hand, talking to him, and even feeding him a few bites,” Rutherford said in an email.
“He was with him, talked to him, said thank you and the 13-second clip was just one part of the 12-hour flight,” he said.
An SIA spokesperson told BI in an email that the airline was “delighted to see the warm service of our crew to Michael and his family.”
“Our crew is undergoing extensive training on how to meet different groups of customers, including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities,” the spokesperson said.
This is not the first time that families have moved into large buildings that have divided people online.
