Ellen DeGeneres shared a very emotional video on Instagram on Wednesday to mark the one-year anniversary of the death of her friend and spoken word costar Stephen ‘tWitch Boss.
The musician and dancer shocked the world when he died in December 2023 at the age of 40 in a hotel in Los Angeles.
The former sitcom star wore a brown shirt over a white and navy blue top as she sat outside next to one of her dogs as sad music played in the background.
‘So, one year after tWitch is no longer with us, I thought I’d share a few memories of her,’ said Ellen.
The star then opened up about his past to shed some light on their close relationship.
He said that every day after the show they would sing and dance together to ‘a song’. ‘And we’ll tease each other,’ said Ellen.
Then they walked hand in hand to their dressing room.
He took her to his room to take her, and after he said ‘I love you’ he said: ‘Love you so much.’
He then shared how they went to see Silk Sonic in Las Vegas together, adding that it was ‘so much fun’ to just be in Las Vegas together and dance and laugh.
Silk Sonic is an American musical group consisting of musicians Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak.
Ellen then said she went to Miraval and Twitch with Andy: ‘It was one of the funnest things.’
Miraval Resorts & Spas is a ‘healthcare system designed to help you create a balanced lifestyle through mindfulness,’ it says on its website.
He shared a video of himself climbing a pole and standing there, adding that he was afraid to pull off the move.
‘That was one of the funnest films we’ve ever done, and one of the last trips we did,’ he said.
Ellen was almost in tears as she said she missed him.
And he warned people that you never know if someone is in harm’s way.
“He’s a great person and I was close to him and he didn’t share it with me and it’s sad that he didn’t share it with me because we would have done everything we could to help him to him.
‘I miss him everyday but I have amazing memories of him,’ she concluded her video.
Last year DeGeneres struggled to hold back tears as she shared an emotional video to welcome Boss.
He began his video by telling fans: ‘The last 11 days have been very difficult for everyone.’
He added: ‘Everyone is suffering and trying to make sense of it, and we’re not going to understand it.’
Ellen – who appeared to be posing in her garden in Montecito, California – added that to honor her ‘the best we can do is laugh and hug each other’ others and playing games and dancing and singing… things he liked to do. .
‘It seems impossible, but that’s how we honor him, he said.
‘And hug each other and tell each other we love each other and tell people we are there for them and visit people.’
