Although it emerged after the assembly elections in Telangana, the president of the Pradesh Congress Committee A Revanth Reddy was the former chief minister, there were attempts to prevent him from receiving the the desired condition until the last moment.
According to high-level sources, the former leader of the Congress party Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka initially pushed for the post of chief minister but withdrew from the race without incident.
On the other hand, fire brigade leader and MP Bhongir Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy also quickly opted out of the race, saying that Revanth Reddy should be the chief minister.
However, former PCC president and Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy reportedly tried till the eleventh hour to position himself for the post of chief minister, citing his wisdom usually the wisest of all leaders.
Sources said that Uttam Kumar Reddy tried to influence the Congress high command through the Reddy lobby, which includes people from Andhra, claiming that he is the most qualified candidate.
He sought support from prominent Reddy businessmen and big businessmen, saying he could protect their interests.
However, the Reddys, despite loving him, made it clear that Revanth Reddy worked harder than any other leader, and took the entire party campaign on his shoulders.
“The high command has noticed that, and people also see him as the next best choice to Bharat Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao. So, it is better for Uttam Kumar Reddy to keep quiet. for now and don’t create any trouble for Revanth or the party, lest it spoil their own ambitions,” the Reddy community reported to him.
They are reported to have warned that any sign of rebellion in the party now will only benefit the BRS, they can exploit the situation and may split the Congress in the days to come. . This caused Uttam to remain silent, sources say.
