Cyberpunk 2077 wins a “Continuing Game” that’s so sad – Destructoid

[ad_1]

Readers may know me as one of Destructoid’s locals Condition head, but now, we have to talk about the Video Game Awards (VGA). I mean, how Cyberpunk 2077 A prize of 2023 was stolen from another game and room.

On December 7, the VGA was named Cyberpunk 2077 who won the ceremony’s Sustainable Sports award. This is despite the fact that Cyberpunk moved up against the real name service life like Legend of Apex, Fortnite, Genshin Impactand Final Thoughts XIV.

As some remember, Cyberpunk 2077 it is not a “constant game.” It’s a solo game and it’s a game that was released with bad results first. The launch was so fraught with problems that Sony quickly removed it from the PSN digital store. CD Projekt RED will spend the better part of three years developing the game.

By 2023, the team has achieved commendable results and Cyberpunk 2077‘s 2.0 update. But VGA’s decision seems to be wrong. So, the individual Cyberpunk 2077 is it a “continuous game” because it was released broken and required years of work to perform as intended? I’m not buying it.

How does VGA define a “continuous game?”

Cyberpunk’s won’t be fair considering the spirit of the prize pool. The award should go to a live service name that describes itself as a “continuous game” in nature rather than situations. If Cyberpunk 2077 can be considered in the running for the best continuous game, what is the standard used by VGA?

If Cyberpunk it can run, how about other games still updated? Warhammer 40K: Darktide, No Man’s Heavenand Call of Duty: Warzone All game changer updates are available after release. None of those games resulted in nominations. Hell, even an outside option like Kingdom Team 2 there are still many benefits of a “continuous game” instead Cyberpunk 2077. So how does it stack up against the most highly rated candidates Cyberpunk 2077 lost?

Don’t get me wrong, what CD Projekt RED did was great. Most rooms prefer to take the L instead of spending the extra years that could be used on another bug fix project. I’m not suggesting that CD Projekt RED made the wrong decision there. The team’s dedication to its product speaks for itself. However, I would say that VGA’s review is Cyberpunk 2077 as a “continuous game” is wrong.

Another title is missing

With Cyberpunk won this prize, missed another fair match. Contenders for Best Sustainable Sports, by their very nature, are unlikely to be nominated for many other categories. Sure, it might appear in non-fantasy categories like Best Mobile Games or Best ESports Games. But titles that end up as Best Continuing Games usually rarely win “big” awards like Game Of The Year. A game that can’t be Game Of The Year and Best Continuous Game in the year it’s released; never possible.

I will, Cyberpunk 2077The ‘s decision pushed another worthy title out of the competition. And his victory only diverted the attention from other competitors who are strong in the field. Hopefully there will be more consideration in the selected areas next year. little Gollum get a well-received update and get the Good Game Continued in 2024.
