Representative James Comer (R-KY) responded humbly to a challenge by a Capitol Hill reporter on the importance of his investigation into the business dealings of Joe Biden and his family.
The chairman of the House Oversight Committee spoke to reporters on Wednesday, criticizing the president’s son, Hunter Biden, for refusing to close the door.
Comer, who previously denied Biden’s request for public testimony, said: “The president has not been honest in his dealings with these people who are sending millions of dollars to Hunter Biden and the Biden family. . Look, I think every American has a simple question: ‘What did the Bidens do to get tens of millions of dollars from our enemies around the world?’
But the reporter immediately got to Comer’s case, asking, “You admit you didn’t answer that question?” Haven’t you found any evidence of wrongdoing or crime?”
“We found serious evidence,” Comer responded. “The checks—two checks to Joe Biden from his brother. The money given to Joe Biden came from the purchase of stocks.” The statement refers to the repayment of loans between members of the Biden family in 2018, when the president was not in the inheritance.
The reporter intervened, citing previous reports that found that Joe Biden had given his brother, James Biden, a $200,000 loan about two months before James returned a repayment check. loan, a transaction that Comer said “trouble” in October.
But Comer said, “You don’t understand loan documents, I do.”
The congressman was then asked if he accused Joe Biden’s lawyers of making illegal money, but he rejected the question and said, “What do you think? You are protecting him,” before quickly looking for another question.
After the press conference, the House Oversight Committee announced that it would “begin contempt of Congress proceedings” against Hunter Biden.
