“Succession” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” star Alan Ruck is being sued by one of the drivers he hit in a crash on Halloween night in Hollywood.

According to the complaint obtained by KTLA, Horacio Vela was waiting at a red light at the intersection of North La Brea Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard when Ruck’s Rivian R1T “suddenly and violently accelerated” into the back of his Hyundai. Elantra.

Security camera footage shows the Hyundai entering the intersection where it hit another vehicle turning left onto La Brea.

Ruck’s Rivian, meanwhile, was traveling on Hollywood Boulevard, hitting another car before crashing into the wall of Raffallo’s Pizza.

Ruck was not injured and was seen on video talking to Los Angeles police after the incident. No criminal charges were filed, but the cause of the accident is still unclear.

Ruck himself did not offer an explanation.

Hyundai, the lawsuit alleges, is a “total car.”

Vela is suing for damages to the car and “past and future medical costs, pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, and other damages.”

His lawyer, Neama Rahmani, said Ruck’s insurance company had no choice but to sue the player.

“Accidents happen. That’s what insurance is. But Alan Ruck’s insurance company, State Farm, has refused to accept responsibility for the accident,” Rahmani said in a statement to KTLA on Thursday. “To make matters worse, Ruck’s State Farm adjuster has been harassing us for weeks despite phone calls and letters to try to make a proper settlement.”

KTLA reached out to a representative of Ruck and the State Farm but did not receive a response.

“The lesson here is that it doesn’t matter how successful you are. If you make the mistake of getting insurance through the State Farm, you are more likely to be prosecuted,” said Rahmani.
