Brian Brown’s attorney says he will vigorously defend Jackson-Bolanos.

“I do not agree to the charges,” Brown told the Associated Press. “We will wait for confirmation.”

Woll, 40, was found dead outside her home, east of downtown Detroit, on Oct. 21, hours after returning from a wedding. Investigators believe he was attacked inside the home.

“There are no facts to indicate that the defendant knew Ms. Woll,” Worthy said.

The killing immediately sparked speculation that it might be some form of revenge amid the Israeli-Hamas war. Authorities have repeatedly rescinded the conviction, even before Jackson-Bolanos’ arrest.

Police say a person of interest was arrested over the weekend. Another person who was held in custody was released in November.

“It’s a very sad and tragic situation,” Worthy said, adding: “It takes time. We don’t want to rush to court.”

Sheriff James White said Jackson-Bolanos “came on our radar a few weeks ago” as investigators tried to solve burglaries in the area.

“It’s not a case you can solve like it’s on television,” White said. “Hours and hours of testimony, hours and hours of video, phone work, seven days a week.”

Woll was president of the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue. In addition to his work for the synagogue, Woll worked for the Democratic US Rep. Elissa Slotkin and on the political campaign of state Attorney General Dana Nessel.
