Two people were injured in a large fire that engulfed a three-story two blocks from the Panhandle in San Francisco on Monday morning, the San Francisco Fire Department said.

One person jumped from the building on the 700 block of Masonic Avenue to escape the fire and suffered moderate injuries; the other person who was ejected from the house with minor injuries, Lt. Mariano Elias, a spokesman for the fire department, told SFGATE.

The three-alarm fire was first reported to SFFD at about 3:20 a.m. The fire quickly spread and damaged the garage.

“The roof and floor collapsed,” said Elias. “This house will probably be demolished, it’s bad.

Elias said that the fire spread to the houses on all sides of the house and that these houses were moderately damaged.

Seven people have escaped.

Masonic between Hayes and Fulton is closed to traffic and may be closed to traffic at noon. Elias said the fire will remain on the scene and firefighters are looking for hot spots where the fire could start again.

People are advised to avoid the area and find other routes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
