We have been blessed for not one but two years Day of the Devs indie game show, and the latest to live according to the context of the event. A 90-minute stream yesterday featured some awesome games from developers around the world, and I want to play them all this minute.
Made by DoubleFine and iam8bit, Day of the Devs: The Game Awards edition an end of the year co-host in June as part of Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest. Like that show (which was great this year), this week’s event showed a lot of indie games, from games we already know like the psychedelic metroidvania. Ultras to new shows like the jazz-punk detective thriller Nirvana Noir. It’s hard to go a few weeks now without running into another new game show, but the organization and delivery of Devs Day content remains second to none.
It’s also nice to have another annual solution to block games to end the year. Gameplay is full of big names and new trailers, mostly supported by the big media who are chasing all the latest trends and first GOTY games. Everything featured in Day of the Devs is accompanied by short stories from the creators themselves, showing not only the unique style and mechanics of their projects, but also the most interesting stories. specifically to inspire their creation.
Whenever I start to feel low about the capital-G Game Industry, shows like this remind me of all the awesome developers working to pursue their most intimate and original creations. You can click on the image above to see each game featured in the show, or watch the full livestream below, complete with a beautiful and haunting score from the Oxenfree II: Lost Symbols soundtrack and ends with a small presentation from the Wholesome Games group. Be happy!
